2020 has been a rough year for us all. But restaurants and bars were among some of the worst hit industries by COVID-19 implications.

Luckily, things are looking much brighter for us here in Australia, with the number of cases going down and borders on the road to reopening. But a lot of local pubs and restaurants still need your help post COVID-19. With that said, we’ve provided some of our top tips for supporting small businessowners as we start on our long path to recovery:

Dine Out

If you didn’t have an excuse to venture out for a feast before, then you sure as heck do now. A lot of local pubs, hotels and restaurants are still struggling as a result of COVID-19, so they definitely need your support now more than ever. Getting the gang together for a long lunch or a dinner date is one of the best ways for you to show your support for small businesses who’ve had it rough these last couple of months. Plus, it’s a win-win situation for everyone; you get to provide your local restaurants with business, and you also get to enjoy delicious food and fun times with friends! Just don’t forget to make a reservation beforehand so that you and your posse are guaranteed a seat.

Spread the Word

Got a favourite pub or restaurant that you think everyone needs to try at least once? Well then, spread the word! Tell all your friends and family about it, or make a post about it on social media. Speaking of social media, that’s another really great way for you to show your support for local pubs and restaurants. With the blessed invention of the internet, you can easily show your support for pubs and restaurants with the simple click of a button, whether it’s by liking, commenting on, or sharing a post that they’ve created.

Show Your Support at Other Events

At most pubs nowadays, you can find a lot more to do than just eating and drinking. For instance, here at The Carlisle Hotel & Distillery, we host a variety of live bands, plus we hold karaoke nights every Wednesday from 7:30 to 11. So, if you’ve got a free night during the week and want to fill in the gap with something fun, you can always head down to our restaurant and bar for some good times and great vibes. If you’re looking for an activity to do with a group, we will also be hosting gin tasting sessions at our new in-house gin distillery. As you can see, there are more ways than one to support your local pubs and restaurants, even when you’re not in the mood for a meal or a drink.

Order Take-Out

Whilst things may be more or less back to normal for us Western Australians, there are still some pubs and restaurants operating with a limited capacity. So, if you find that there’s no seating available the next time you rock up to your favourite pub or restaurant, consider ordering some meals to go instead. If your local restaurant didn’t have takeaway options prior to COVID-19, then there’s a good chance they do now. Of course, back when restrictions were tight, a lot of restaurants and pubs were having to rely on takeaway orders as their only source of income. By continuing to order take-out from your local restaurants and pubs, you can continue to keep the demand for takeaway going post COVID-19. If you want to show your support even further, you should consider ordering from your local restaurant directly rather than using a third-party food delivery service such as UberEats or Deliveroo. In this way, you can prevent the restaurant from incurring extra fees.
